What is Sofia?

Sofia is a pricing assistant built for Sofas & Stuff showroom staff. It gives you instant access to prices for every product, size, and fabric combination — nearly 1.7 million price lookups in total. No more flipping through binders or ringing head office.

Where do I access it?

Open britishmade.ai on any device with a web browser. The password is shown in the Quick Start box above. You can use it on your phone, tablet, or showroom computer.

Do I need WiFi?

Yes — Sofia needs an internet connection to look up prices. It works on showroom WiFi or mobile data. If you lose connection, it will show a friendly offline message and retry when you’re back online.

Can I install it on my phone?

Yes! Sofia works as an app on your phone — no App Store needed. It opens full-screen with its own icon, loads faster, and looks just like a native app. See the “Install Sofia on Your Phone” section below for step-by-step instructions (iPhone Safari or Android Chrome).

Can I show prices to customers?

Yes. Sofia shows the discounted price (with the current 15% off) clearly, so you can show the screen directly to a customer. The result includes the original price, the discount, and the final price.

What products can I look up?

• 150 furniture models — sofas, chairs, corners, loose covers, stools, sofa beds, and pet beds
• 2,070 fabrics — across House Essentials, Signature, Exclusives, and Leather tiers
• Mattresses — all models and sizes (just type the model name and size)
• Divan bases — all base types and sizes
• Scatter cushions & bolsters — bespoke accessories

What if a price looks wrong?

Tap the small flag icon on any price result to submit a bug report. It goes straight to the dev team with a screenshot and technical details. See “Report a Problem” below for full instructions.

Who do I contact for help?

For pricing questions or tool issues, use the flag icon to report bugs directly from Sofia. For general questions about the tool, speak to your showroom manager who can escalate to the tech team.

Day 1 — Access & Install

1. Open britishmade.ai on your phone and enter the password
2. Install Sofia as an app (see “Install Sofia on Your Phone” below)
3. Try your first lookup: type “Alwinton 3 seater Pacific” and press Enter

Day 2-3 — Practice the Autocomplete

1. Tap the search bar and start typing a product name (e.g. “Pet”)
2. Select Petworth from the dropdown
3. Pick a size (e.g. Large Sofa)
4. Browse fabrics — try the Collection and Price filters
5. Tap a fabric to see the price instantly

Day 4-5 — Explore More Features

• Try voice input — tap the mic and say “Kentwell 2 seater Luna”
• Try a corner sofa — search for “Alwinton corner”
• Try a mattress — type “Superior Natural 1000 5ft”
• Try asking a question — “What fabrics do you have in blue?”

End of Week 1 — Use It With Customers

• When a customer asks about a sofa price, look it up on Sofia instead of the binder
• Show the customer the price on your screen — it includes the discount
• If anything looks wrong, tap the flag icon to report it

Tips for Success

• The autocomplete is fastest — you don’t need to remember fabric names
• If Sofia gives a long text response, try the autocomplete instead of typing a sentence
• Prices update automatically — you’re always seeing the latest matrix
• It works offline-ish — previously viewed pages load even without signal, but new price lookups need internet

Some sofa names belong to other manufacturers, not Sofas & Stuff:

• Rottingdean → Try Petworth or Midhurst
• Snowdrop → Try Alwinton or Kentwell
• Arundel → Try Lewes or Bignor

Sofia will automatically suggest similar S&S alternatives if you search for these names.

Most products have:

• Chair
• Snuggler
• 2 seater
• 2.5 seater
• 3 seater
• 4 seater
• Corner options (LHF, RHF)

Products WITHOUT 2.5 seater: Midhurst, Petworth, Lewes, Rye, Cooksbridge, Hampton

Chair only: Sennen (by design - no sofa sizes available)

Use 2 seater or 3 seater instead of 2.5 for products that don't offer it.

Try: "Essentials tier fabrics" or "Signature tier options"

How to find fabric names:

1. Use autocomplete - shows all valid options
2. Ask Sofia: "What fabrics do you have in blue?"
3. Browse website fabric swatches

Fabric shortcuts: You can say partial names like "Sussex Tile", "Tree of Life", or "Linara".

• Speak naturally - say your full query clearly
• Say the full query: "Alwinton three seater Pacific"
• Numbers work: "Alwinton 3 seater" is fine
• Mic indicator shows when Sofia is listening
• Click mic again to stop listening

What do the letters mean?

• LHF = Left Hand Facing (corner on your left when sitting)
• RHF = Right Hand Facing (corner on your right when sitting)
• LHF & RHF = Both ends have corners

Example queries:

Method 1: Autocomplete (recommended)

1. Tap the search bar — a dropdown appears with all products
2. Start typing a product name (e.g. “Alw”) — the list filters as you type
3. Tap Alwinton — the dropdown switches to show available sizes
4. Tap 3-Seater Sofa (93cm) — the dropdown switches to show fabrics with prices
5. Browse fabrics, or use the Collection / Price filter tabs at the top
6. Tap a fabric (e.g. Sussex Plain Salice) — the price appears instantly
7. The result shows the discounted price, the original “Was” price, and the 15% OFF badge

Undo a step: Press Backspace when the input is empty to go back one stage. Click the X to start over completely.

Method 2: Type the full query

1. Type the full query in the search bar: “Alwinton 3 seater Pacific”
2. Press Enter
3. Sofia returns the price in under 1 second

Method 3: Voice

1. Tap the microphone icon
2. Say your query clearly: “Kentwell two seater Luna”
3. Sofia transcribes and looks up the price automatically

Sofia can be installed as an app on your phone — no App Store needed. It opens full-screen (no browser bars), has its own icon, and loads faster on repeat visits.

iPhone (Safari only)

1. Open britishmade.ai in Safari (not Chrome — iOS Chrome doesn't support Add to Home Screen for web apps)
2. Tap the Share button (box with arrow at the bottom of the screen)
3. Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”
4. Tap Add
5. Sofia appears as an app icon on your home screen

Android (Chrome)

1. Open britishmade.ai in Chrome
2. You may see an “Install app” banner automatically — tap Install
3. Or: tap the three-dot menu (⋮) → “Install app” or “Add to Home Screen”
4. Sofia appears in your app drawer

What changes?

• Opens full-screen with no browser address bar
• Has its own app icon on your home screen
• Loads faster on repeat visits
• Shows a friendly offline message if you lose connection

Sofia's autocomplete guides you through 3 stages to build a complete price query:

Go back a step: Press Backspace when the input is empty to undo your last selection and go back one stage.

Start over: Click the X button to clear everything and start fresh.

Skip autocomplete: If you already know what you want, just type the full query (e.g. "Alwinton 3 seater Pacific") and press Enter. Sofia will look it up directly.

When you reach the fabric stage, you'll see filter options at the top of the dropdown:

Quick Tabs:

• Popular — The most-searched fabrics across all showrooms this month
• All — Every available fabric for this product

Collection Filter: Narrow fabrics by collection tier:

• House Essentials — Most affordable (House Velvet, House Plain, Sussex Plain, etc.)
• Signature — Mid-range (Mohair Velvet, Harris Tweed, etc.)
• Exclusives — Premium (Floral Linen, V&A collections, etc.)
• Leather — All leather options

Each collection shows a count of how many fabrics are available.

Price Filter: Narrow by price bracket:

• Under £2,000
• £2,000 – £3,000
• £3,000 – £5,000
• Over £5,000

The filter bar stays visible as you scroll through fabrics, so you can change filters at any time.

Inline Prices: When browsing fabrics in autocomplete, each fabric shows its price next to the name. This lets you compare fabric costs before selecting one.

Discount Display: When you get a price result, Sofia shows:

• The discounted price (large, in green) — this is the price after 15% off
• A "15% OFF" badge next to the price
• The original price (in gray, below) — marked as "Was £X"

The 15% discount is applied automatically to all standard furniture products.

DWR Poly Fabrics: These are Durable Water Repellent fabrics — stain-resistant and easy to clean. They appear under their full fabric name (e.g. "DWR Poly Canvas") with prices shown like any other fabric. Great for families with children or pets.

Some products come in different seat depths:

• Standard (93cm)
• 97cm Extra Depth
• 98cm Extra Depth
• 102cm Extra Depth
• 108cm Extra Depth

How to ask:

Sofia will tell you if the depth you asked for isn't available for that product.

Mattress and divan pricing works differently from sofas — there’s no fabric to choose. Just type the model name and size.

Mattress examples:

Available sizes:

• 3ft — Single
• 4ft — Small Double
• 4ft 6" — Double
• 5ft — King
• 6ft — Super King

Use ft sizes (3ft, 5ft), not bed name labels (Single, King). Sofia understands both, but ft sizes give the fastest results.

Divan bases:

Zip & Link beds: For super king zip & link configurations, type the model followed by “zip & link” and the size.

Many sofa models are available as sofa beds. These work the same as regular sofas — product + size + fabric — but the size includes “Sofa Bed”.

Using autocomplete: Select the product, then choose a sofa bed configuration from the size list (e.g. “Large Sofa Bed (3-Seater) (98cm)”). Then pick your fabric as usual.

Typing directly:

Sofa bed prices include the bed mechanism. If a product doesn’t have a sofa bed option, Sofia will let you know.

Bespoke scatter cushions and bolsters are priced by shape, size, and fabric.

Examples:

You can also use the autocomplete — search for “Bespoke” and Sofia will show you all available scatter and bolster shapes and sizes, then let you pick a fabric.

If you spot a wrong price, a missing product, or anything that doesn't look right:

Step 1: Look for the small flag icon on any Sofia response card and click it.

Step 2: Select a category that best describes the issue:

• 💰 Wrong price shown — The price doesn't match the current price list
• 🔍 Product not in database — A product or size that should exist but isn't found
• 🎨 Wrong fabric displayed — A fabric name was incorrect or not recognised
• ⏱️ Taking too long to respond — Sofia is unusually slow
• 📝 Something else — Any other issue

Step 3: Add a brief note about what went wrong (optional but helpful).

Step 4: Hit Submit. Sofia automatically captures a screenshot and technical details so the team can investigate.

Your report goes directly to the development team. You don't need to email anyone — the flag button is the fastest way to get issues fixed.
